What's Happening Around The Richmond School District?
LIGHTING UPGRADE PROJECTS
clip_image002.pngLighting upgrade projects were initiated in the spring when the Board approved Annual Facilities Grant funding to remove high intensity discharge lighting from a number of its schools. Inefficient lighting in a number of gymnasiums and hallways will be replaced with energy efficient fluorescent fixtures and will also be outfitted with motion/sound detectors.  These detectors will automatically turn lights on and off and depending on occupancy, will save the District approximately $175,000 in electrical utility costs per year.

It is anticipated this project will be completed by March 2011 at which time the District will qualify for a rebate from BC Hydro.
