What's Happening Around The Richmond School District?
LIGHTING UPGRADE PROJECTS
Lighting upgrade projects were initiated in the spring when the Board approved Annual Facilities Grant funding to remove high intensity discharge lighting from a number of its schools. Inefficient lighting in a number of gymnasiums and hallways will be replaced with energy efficient fluorescent fixtures and will also be outfitted with motion/sound detectors. These detectors will automatically turn lights on and off and depending on occupancy, will save the District approximately $175,000 in electrical utility costs per year.
It is anticipated this project will be completed by March 2011 at which time the District will qualify for a rebate from BC Hydro.
Electricians on this project include: Ivor Scruton, Gord Cameron, Raj Lal, Russ Hartley and Gerry Nicholson
