 Donna and her husband, Chris, have made Richmond their home for 19 years and love living in a City that is safe, fun and friendly. They have two children, Jenny and Greg, aged 19 and 17. Since her daughter began kindergarten 14 years ago, Donna has been very actively involved in the Richmond School District. She
believes that the parents’ role in education is key for the success of children and has devoted much of her time to not only her own school but also the district. Some of her involvement has included:
• Richmond District Parents Association – President - 2 years
• Richmond School District Trustee - 3 years
• Richmond District Parents Association, Vice President - 3 years
• Parent Advisory Council Chairperson - 4 years
• School Planning Council Member
• Multicultural Liaison Committee Chair - 6 years
Some of the past and/or current committees on which she has sat are: Personnel & Finance, Facilities & Buildings, Foundations, Effective Communications, Budget Communications, Career Development Advisory, Council/Board Liaison, School Planning Council Working Group, Core Relations, Social and Emotional Learning. Some of Donna’s community involvement includes: the City of Richmond’s Substance Abuse Task Force, Ultra Rhythmics, Gymnastics Club, City of Richmond’s Traffic Safety Advisory Committee, Block Watch Captain and Girl Guides of Canada.
Donna ran for office of School Trustee because she believes in public education. She believes that every child in Richmond is entitled to the best education possible. She also believes that a strong education system contributes to the betterment of society as a whole and that we must ensure such a system. Bringing the community’s voice to the table and working with our valued stakeholders, is key to making our education system the best it can be.
Donna’s extensive track record has shown that she is hard working, principle centred and a trustworthy team player. These qualities along with her experience, integrity and passion, enable her to truly make a difference.
Donna believes more than ever that the school district needs strong, hardworking, caring leadership; leadership that has a balanced view and makes decisions that are best for children.
