Pink Shirt Day is a day to raise awareness about the importance of standing up against bullying in all forms. It is a day to promote kindness, respect and inclusion among students, staff and the wider community.

On this day, we wear pink to show our support for those who have been bullied and to take a stand against bullying. Pink Shirt Day began in 2007 when two Canadian high school students saw a fellow student being bullied for wearing a pink shirt. In response, they purchased and distributed pink shirts to their peers as a symbol of unity and solidarity. Since then, Pink Shirt Day has become an annual event celebrated around the world.

At the Richmond School District, we believe that every student has the right to feel safe and supported at school. We encourage all students, staff and families to join us in celebrating Pink Shirt Day and standing up against bullying. Let's work together to create a safe and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
