RichNet Connection Tips

If you are having problems connecting to and logging in to RichNet it is likely one of two things.

A.  You do not have the settings file configured to point to RichNet.
Check the following:

For FirstClass Clients prior to Version 9:

B.  You have security software that is preventing you from connecting to RichNet
This is typically the case if one has installed something like Norton Firewall.  FirstClass connects to RichNet using Port 510 and this must be open on your computer.

If you are using Norton Firewall , the solution is:
Open Norton Internet security;
        a. click Personal firewall. On the bottom right hand corner click "configure".
        b. scroll down to Fcc 32.exe and change setting to "permit all".

Note: Other firewall software operate in similar fashion. Consult your firewall's user manual to learn how to adjust the port setting to allow communication on port 510 and/or allow fcc 32.exe to run through the firewall.
