World Teacher's Day - October 5, 2019

October 04, 2019

On October 5, 2019, the Richmond School District recognizes and celebrates the significant contributions that teachers make to public education and the lives of their students. This is a day to reflect on the enormous impact that teachers have in defining the classroom experience and to show gratitude to those who have affected you in some way as a student - even years ago.

Teachers play a fundamental role in our success both as individuals and as a society and we are so fortunate in Richmond to have such a dedicated, committed and professional community of teachers in our classrooms.  I encourage you to take the time today to express your appreciation to the educators around you, letting them know the impact they have had on you and your life.

In 2019, World Teachers' Day will celebrate teachers with the theme, "Young Teachers: The future of the Profession." The day provides the occasion to celebrate the teaching profession worldwide, to take stock of achievements, and to address some of the issues central for attracting and keeping the brightest minds and young talents in the profession. Teaching continues to be a very challenging role and it is critical that we all take the time to demonstrate our support for those who come to work each day ready and willing to give their best to our children.

On behalf of the executive staff and the Board of Education, I would like to thank all teachers who contribute to making the Richmond School District the best place to learn and lead.

Sincerely,

Scott Robinson
Superintendent of Schools
