The Visioning Art Contest was launched March 15, 2018 following the Board of Education's approval of the revised Policy 100 Vision, Mission and Values statements. Submissions for the art contest were accepted until May 4, 2018.
A Visioning Art Contest selection panel was assembled with eight stakeholder groups including students, trustees, CUPE, RASA, RDPA, RMAPS, RTA and the executive team. The selection panel met four times to review submissions and select the winning artwork.
Of the 52 submissions eligible for the art contest, each submission was presented to the selection panel in a manner to conceal the identity of the artist. At no point in the process was the selection panel given identifying information about the artist. A number was assigned to each piece of artwork and the selection panel used the submission and evaluation criteria to advance to the next rounds.
On June 4, 2018, the selection panel selected submission number 18 as the winner of the Visioning Art Contest. Submission number 18 is Megan Yung, a grade nine student from Boyd Secondary school. Megan will be invited to the September 12, 2018 Board Meeting to be officially announced as the winner of the Visioning Art Contest and to have her winning submission revealed to the public.
