What is my catchment school?

A student will normally attend the school located in the catchment area in which their parents or legal guardians reside unless there is no physical, resource or program space available. You can find your catchment school by using the school locator .


Where do I register?

All student registrations are completed at the Central Registration Office.

How do I register my child?

Complete the online registration form, then bring your registration number and required documents into the Central Registration Office between 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on weekdays.


What are the required documents?

The custodial parent(s) or legal guardian(s) must personally attend to register. Children are welcome to attend, however it is not required.

When do I register?

Registration for the 2019/20 school year is ongoing. Registration for the 2020/21 school year will begin on January 6, 2020.

Will I get into my catchment school?

As per district policy, a student will normally attend the school located in their catchment area in which their parents or legal guardians reside unless there is no physical, resource or program space available. New registration applications will be processed in the following order.

  1. Students with a catchment sibling who will attend the school and program in 2020/21
  2. Students with a non-catchment sibling who will attend the school and program in 2020/21
  3. Catchment students
  4. Students with a Non-Richmond resident sibling who will attend the school and program in 2020/21

Students who can not be placed at their catchment school will be placed at a nearby school by the District Administrator for Central Registration.

Who needs a Letter of Acceptance to register?

Letters of Acceptance are needed by parents/legal guardians who:

  1. Have refugee status
  2. Have a valid work permit and proof of employment. Work permits must be valid for minimum one year.
  3. Have a valid study permit and have been accepted into a qualifying degree or diploma program. Study permits must be valid for minimum one year.
  4. Are on an international government sponsored contract.
  5. Have a child who is in the care of the Ministry of Children and Family Development.
Letter of Acceptance application forms and the list of required documents are available at the Central Registration Office. Application processing time is approximately two weeks. If approved, the Letter of Acceptance must be picked up by parents/legal guardians within 14 days and presented at the time of registration.
